Meet Verizon HR Manager

Hi everyone, and hats off to our favorite day of the work week, Friday. My topic for today is, Being Green. Many of you probably don't even know that Verizon is doing their part to be "environmental stewards". Did you know that Corporate Officer (CRO) Magazine named Verizon one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2008. Of the eight categories the CRO used to rate companies, we were rated the highest for our work in climate change and the environment. And here are some cool facts...

  • No other company in the telecommunications industry has earned as many Energy Star certifications as Verizon.
  • Verizon supplies a variety of services (teleconferencing, video conferencing, Internet access, etc.) to facilitate communications without the need to travel and produce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Verizon has implemented a Commuter Reimbursement Program that encourages employees to use mass transit or van pools that assist communities in improving air quality
  • Verizon has a procedure for the reuse, refurbishment, resale or recycling of surplus office furniture from unused offices.
  • Verizon's document storage and destruction procedures include paper recycling.

Overall, Verizon is committed to minimizing its impact on the environment and conserving natural resources. To take it a step further, we not only comply with all applicable environmental regulations, but many of our programs go beyond regulatory requirements, such as our Energy Conservation and Recycling Programs. And, to put our money where our mouth is, so to speak, the benefits of these efforts are equivalent to the following:

  • 60,000 passenger cars not driven for one year;
  • Conserving over 37 million gallons of gasoline;
  • Growing more than 8,500,000 tree seedlings for 10 years; or
  • Approximately 2,300 acres of forest preserved from deforestation
Amazing isn't it. We are certainly doing our part which is just another good reason to join the Verizon team. Have a great weekend and Be Green...

Kelly :)

Hi Jivitesh,

Thanks for the inquiry. Have you tried submitting your resume to the careers site as Verizon is unable to accept resumes for general consideration, and we ask that you visit our website at: www.verizon.com/careers where you will have the option of viewing available positions by job category and location and applying on-line for a specific position that matches your skills. Verizon suggests that you visit the "Careers" site regularly, as it is updated constantly with new information, and submit your resume for consideration for any openings in which you have interest and for which you feel your qualifications are a match.

Once your resume is received and reviewed, your qualifications will be reviewed against the requirements of the job in which you expressed interest. A Verizon representative will contact you if your skills are a match for the position.

Remember to check our website, www.verizon.com/careers , regularly and apply directly on-line for any position in which you have an interest.

I am reaching out to you today because I am interested in obtaining a sales position with Verizon Wireless. I am very customer oriented, and have extensive experience selling Verizon products and services. I have worked for a Verizon indirect store for about 3 years and was promoted to manager in training within the first year. I feel that I can be succesful in the structured environment of a retail store. I am currently majoring in marketing at Pierce College and have a very flexible and open schedule. I am very competetive and thrive to be number one in anything and everything I do. I speak fluent Spanish and am open to any available position within Verizon Wireless. Please let me know if you will be conducting interviews or have any available positions available in my area. Thank you, Peter Orejuela8188254466
