Hello,

My name is Jsutin Anderson, and I live in Grand Rapids, MI. I applied to verizon a month ago, and was curious on how I find out about the progess of my application. I heard good things about working for Verizon from my representative in Kentwood, MI. I am very interested, and I am seeking some feedback. Any information would be helpful.

Hi,

I think its great that you have this blog. I was wondering if you can tell me if I'm on the right track. I applied on-line for the Multimedia position in Ewing, NJ and took the test on Aug 9th. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jim Sparmo

Hi Justin,

Thanks for the inquiry! I would be happy to assist you, so it would be great if you could tell me what position you applied for so that I can inquire about the status. Additionally, are you looking to stay local to the area, or are you willing to relocate. If you could respond to those questions, I will investigate and get back to you soon! Thanks again.

Dear Kelly,

I've been watching the verizon.com/telecomjobs site and was happy to see openings for Multimedia Technicians in Freehold, Plainfield and Ewing, NJ. I applied to the Freehold and Ewing positions, Freehold would be the closest. Any feedback you could give me on my application would be greatly appreciated. I am very excited about the prospect of becoming a Verizon employee. Thanks again for this terrific blog.

Jim,

I apologize in the delayed response Jim, I have been in an off-site meeting all week. I looked into your question and it seems we do have your resume, but we need for you to complete the application as well. Do you know how to do that? If not, let me know and I can assist you! Good Luck!

Dear Kelly,

I was sent the following Verizon job description last week through a contact: Network Video Hub Office (VHO) Technician. The location is in Freehold, New Jersey. However, the post does not include information on how to apply for this position. As a VZ HR Manager, I thought you were a person who might be able to steer me in the right direction. The job is not posted on Verizon' website. I have 25 years experience in Television Broadcasting and currently work steady freelance at NBC Universal Cable Networks as a technician specializing in Media Management. I am seeking a more stable position close to home, such is Freehold, NJ. The VHO position sounds challenging and compliments my skills. I don't know how to forward my resume to you. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Michele M. Noble

Michele,

I apologize for missing your post. Honestly, because this was an older one, I didn't check it until today, so I will get better at that! To answer your question, you are correct, that position is not posted on our site, as that position is not currently available externally. That position is one that is new to Telecom, so we are still in the beginning stages. I would suggest submitting your resume and creating an agent that will notify you when the position has been posted. Below are instructions how to do that, but please let me know if you need further assistance.

Resume Submission:

The only way to apply is online. We would be happy to consider your resume after you submit it through our website, www.verizon.com/careers. We post all current job openings there, and that is also where you need to apply on-line. If you don't see a job that fits your skills and interests, keep checking back because we update the site with new openings as soon as they become available. Also, we strongly encourage you to create an Agent that can notify you when new jobs become available. If you have any questions or need help let us know.
_____________

Please find below a list of steps to help you apply:

1. Log on to our careers website, www.verizon.com/careers.
2. Click on "Resume Management", and then create a profile by setting up a user name, password and contact information. Please make note of your user id and password in a reliable place because you will need them in order to edit your resume and apply for positions. Remember, whenever you want to log into your Career account in the future, go to RESUME MANAGEMENT. Do not click on the “My Account” or “sign in” buttons at the top of the page.
3. Once your profile has been created, then create your resume by typing in the information or by pasting the information in the fields from your resume document. As you build your resume in the template, hit "save and continue" to move on to each new page.
4. Once your resume has been completed and saved, you will be returned to the Resume Management section.
5. To search for available positions, click on the "Search Current Openings" link on the navigation menu or go to http://www22.verizon.com/about/careers/jobsearch/.
6. Search for current openings by selecting a category from the first drop-down box, and then a location from the second drop-down box. (You may select more than one of each by holding down the CTRL button on your keyboard.)

- OR, you may simply enter a key word in the "By Keyword" box, to see if there are any positions that mention that word in their description.

7. Click on the "Submit" button. If any positions are a match for your criteria, they will appear. Click on the title of the position to read the description. Jobs that have a flame before the title are considered “Hot”, which means that there is an immediate need. If it seems like a match for your qualifications, click the "Apply On-line" button at the bottom of the description and then follow the instructions for submitting your online resume at that point. After you apply for the position you will see a thank you message on-line. If you want to see a list of all the jobs that you have applied to, please click on the “View Applications”.
8. We also encourage you to establish an Agent, which will allow us to notify you when jobs become available in the future that match your skills and interests either via email or to your wireless device. While you are in Resume Management please select “Manage Agents”.

Once again thank you for your interest in Verizon we will be looking forward to receiving your resume.

Please let me know if that helps! Thanks again for your interest.

Hi Kelly,
While out job hunting the other day I stopped by a Verizon cellular store to find out how to migrate from Quest to Verizon which is being driven by Quest turning their cellular over to Verizon as Sprint is being sold. I have no problem with that as I originally had Verizon as my cellular and was not unhappy with the service
My issue today with you is that while in the store, I asked if Verizon was hiring at the Call-Center and they said due to the change over, yes.
I have to let you know I was so excited, left my resume and hurried home to attempt again to submitt my application online which had never worked (was never allowed to complete) since Sprint laid all its operators off in March of 2003. Even with help from my Sprint Supervisor Cheryl Bredehoeft, we got no further than I did alone and it terminated us with a message Navigation failed. I eventually took another job here, then moved elsewhere, worked a year there and returned to Arizona to go back to the same company which was terminated in July of this year.
My husband and I have been hit hard by the economic turmoil and we do not have big investments in the bank or a mortgage. I am on unemployment but we have no benefits.
I really need a job and am hoping you can help in some way. There are no call center jobs for Verizon listed under the job search. My application and testing were completed online and they were able to see it at the Verizon Store. So it is there. I am now hoping for a contact from your office and am wondering why I have not already heart from you since they told me you were hiring at the Chandler Call-Center in Arizona. I have 16 years of Customer service/Call-center experiance in the last 18 years.
I assure you that I will be an asset to the company. I am loyal, dependable, trustworthy and willing and able to learn any new things I need to know to become a Verizon employee. I am looking forward to hearing from you in the near future. My e-mail is phat.broad1945@yahoo.com. You can contact my cell VM at 602-670-0766.
Thank you for the opportunity to use this blog to contact you. It gives me another opportunity to let you know how much I would like to be employed by your company.

Sincerely, Donna Bunting

Dear Kellye,
Thank you so much for your response and I will be waiting for your e-mail or call anxiously. I was not even sure anyone would seriously consider my previous Blog.
I just migrated to Verizon as a have-to from Quest who is changing wireless carriers. I am very happy so far with the deal and the plan I got. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care and keep in touch.
